Zune Software Update Coming Today - 2.3 FINALLY!

okay....deleted my zune software from my computer....reinstalled it....but of course it picks up the latest update (which I still think is the problem),  had to load all my music,  and video back in...another 3 day job.....tried to rip a new album...same problem,  comes up unknown album etc....but at least it synched this time,  but still had to go and edit each song (unknown song),  with the song name,  add album cover,  changed unknow album to album title....but it still comes up unknow album on the zune,  though each song title has come out this time....but now the whole album is missing from my my music file, which I use for my zune music file.....but still on the zune itself....is there something in the settings etc....to get the videos to run,  had to change the setting to cd/dvd/data file from audio file in the settings,  when I did this my unknow album listed above disappered from my zune my music...went back and changed to audio...still not there....unless I am just getting more stupid and confused....still wish Microsoft would allow you to back out of the updates,  and use the old version,  was no problem on my end.  I am getting a headache or is it a stroke...maybe my widow could sue Microsoft.

try ripping with Windows Media Player.  It does a better job.  Also, did you try using WMP to find the album info before you went and updated each song manually?

windows media player is "wmp". This program regaurdless how old the one thats on your windows computer you should have it installed.  If youve got vista type windows media player in the search bar when you push the start button. If you dont you can try looking in the programs and posibly in the entertainmaint folder of acessories folder.

if you cant find it post back and if I or somone else see it they or I can try to run you thorugh macking sure its turn on in add/remove windows items "turn windows features on or off"

Wow, great update. Now I can re-download all of those CD's that were not showing up on my download history!

DO I have to sync my zune to get the new update? I don't eant to sync cause I'll lose all the music.... >_<

It is a software update, so you shouldn't have to sync for it to install.

Ok, as someone already suggested, you are better off to rip your cd's via Windows Media Player 11.  Now, your stuff that you have already ripped is there.  I believe that when you use Zune Marketplace to rip your cd's, it places them into the Zune directory, which sits in your MUSIC directory. If you use Windows Vista, the location would be C:\Users\yourusername\Music\Zune.  If you use XP, it is C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\Zune.

It has been suggested in this thread that you need to also delete the music store file as well.  Unfortunately, I do not recall the name of the file.  Search this thread for instructions on removing the software and you'll find it.  Sorry, I don't readily remember. Doing so seemed to fix the 'unknown album' issue for a few folks.  Might be worth a try, but you'll have to reload your Zune again.

I have a brand new Zune 80 that I can't even use.  I had a Zune 30 for a bit over a year and I loved it.  I upgraded (????) to the Zune 80 last week.  I went to sync it up to load my music yesterday.  The Zune software popped up with an update to 2.3.  Clicking "Update" it was my mistake.  The Zune software is now useless.  I can't launch it, or reinstall it.  My second mistake is that I'm running Vista. :(

I downloaded the full 173MB Zune pack from MS.  Now the error I keep getting is:

"Setup must stop because the required packeage 'Zune' failed to install."

"DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0x2"

"Error code: 0x80070643"

HELP!

Has anyone had trouble actually updating the software to 2.3? For me the update is found and the software asks me if I would like to download an install it. The Zune Installation Software Pops up with the list of the three things:

         Checking For Updates

          Preparing Your Computer

         Installing the Zune Software

 

The program completley crashes though at preparing your computer...why is this.........it starts at zero and just falls back and flickers

 

Has anyone else had this problem?

updated yesterday and didn't have any problems seems to be working great :)
