Its also Zune 80's too.  Not as wide spread but know over 100 people that have 80's that are freezing at the load screen and also showing other icons such as white battery icons with an exclamtion mark inside and also a white battery icon with a white plug inside.

re: Help-frozen zune!!!!

Ok for all of you that just can't wait until midnight to use your Zune here is a quick fix that will allow it to work in the meantime.

First you have to open the Zune, if you don't know how here is a video that shows you how http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/zune-support/91483-open-your-zune.html

You don't have to do all the steps in the video, once the cover is open just follow what I've written below.

after you open it disconnect the ribbon cable on the bottom right side of the hard drive, Thats the cable that runs over the top of the drive to the battery. Let it sit for a couple of minutes then reconnect it. If all goes well the Zune should reboot and allow you to use it as normal.

The catch to this is you can't set the clock to the correct time, if you do it will freeze up on you again, I've tried this on multiple Zune's and the only one that I have an issue with is the one I set to the correct time.

Do this at your own risk. I do not take responsiblity for anybody that damages their Zune by following this procedure.

I just un-froze mine I pulled out the snap-in insert on the bottom.  Then removed the screws and carefully opened it up.  Once that is done pull the clip there the battery cord goes into unit, once off press both BACK and UP at same time screen will turn on then go blank.... you can then re-connect the battery and all should be normal.  Hope I helped out some of ya!

Mine is still working  been over a hour now

re: Help-frozen zune!!!!
I have taken it apart to disconnect the battery to reset. I found that it is in the date 2009 it will freeze. Microst is wrong the device will not work even if you wait for calendar change. before you plug it in to the computer change the date back to Jan 2008. This will give micrsoft a chance to fix the firmware. You may even have to do a complete reset to fix it make sure to change the date every time you plug it in.

I have enjoyed my Zune and provided it resets as MS has explained I will not be too bothered by this minor set-back. Can't belive what a world of babies we have that we can't tolerate any error related to our toys and acting as if our work is flawless everyday.

How does it know there is an extra day. My Zune bricked when it was not connected or plugged in and the wireless was off.
