re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?
I have been fighting the rollback 02 0X80070643 error for a few weeks. I finally got the software to update. I found the answer in another forum.  Goto C:/Windows/system32/drivers/wdf01000.sys file and rename it wdf01000.sys.bak  After hours of cleaning the reg and all of the other fixes this worked for me. I added the .bak and installed the software update with no problem. Hopes this helps some of the other people who have spent hours on this problem.. Thanks Microsoft for all of your help.

My brain hurts.

This is what I did: (file names are shortened, but you get the idea) Smile [:)]

1.)  Uninstall all versions and servicepacks of .NET Framework
2.)  Restart
3.)  Download and run .NET removal tool.
4.)  Restart
5.)  Added the DisableRollback registry hack (search the forums for this here.)
6.)  Downloaded the full ZunePackage from microsoft
7.)  Restart
8.)  Turn Firewall ON
9.)  Disable internet connection
10.)  Extract the ZunePackage
11.)  Run dotnetfix from the extracted Zunepackage
12.)  Run wmfdist11...exe from the extracted Zunepackage
13.)  Run windowsxp.kb915865...exe from the extracted Zunepackage
14.)  Restart
15.)  Run Zunex86.exe

FINALLY (it has been since the release of the new software).....it is installed, working and updating correctly.

Thought this might help someone...

Wow! Surprise [:O], a bit more and...

16.) Reinstall Windows

Did this a second time on my laptop, (which I could not install it on before due to the same errors) and it installed and is working fine now.

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?
yes when i try to install it, it shows this message to me but where do i get this update?
if you dont mind tellign me.
A problem that i have also is that my computer is not connected to the internet (not anymore)
so when i baught my zune i installed it to my PC and got my music, well I connected my zune to my friend's computer and I guess it updated it. but didnt know that i needed that particular update on my computer to use my zune it, creating problems... well i transfered the zune software download that this site gives to my PC, then tried to install it but it gave me this message...

"Zune software installation can't continue until you've installed one or more required updates

Windows update must be updated to run this program"

Now i don't really know  how to do this... any help on where to get the update for Windows Update?
