re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?
I tried a lot of different "resolutions" and the only thing that worked was running the old installer, which is 5.31MB and I just happen to have a copy of.

i'm having that system restore problem, how did you kill it?

I too am having an issue that the Zune software tells me is related to system restore. Something about not being able to find the drive. The exact quote is this:

"Setup must stop because the required package 'Creating System Restore Point' failed to install.
The system cannot find the drive specified"

Anyone know a work around?

I'm using the bundled package, still no luck.

New software and you can't even use it. Nice one Microsoft.

Ok, I've tried using the bundle or just the regular insall but it still tells me this:

Installation Failed
Setup must stop because the required package '%1!s!' failed to install.
Error code: 0x80042308
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=1-1253

Anyone know what I can do?

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?

I'm getting the same error as some others and none of the recommendations have worked so far.

Setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install.

DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0x2

Error code: 0x80070643

I spent almost an hour on the phone with Zune Support and accomplished nothing more than getting frustrated.

I've installed without issue on a Vista x86 machine but, on my primary Vista x64 computer it's just not taking it. I'm a domain administrator (these computers are on a domain) and have no problems installing anything else. The computers are in the same OU and on the one where I'm having the problem, I've uninstalled the old Zune software and restarted already. I've also installed all of the latest updates and still no joy.

If you've experienced problems installing the latest Zune software and setup tells you that you are missing a package, please download the following bundled installer.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/5/7/4578afd6-a0b6-4724-89e5-ba9395ea6a6d/ZunePackage.exe

1. download package

2. run package to extract to your computer

3. go to directory that you extracted to, run startzune.exe

4. proceed with installation, following instructions

does that package install include the firmware? i've had to reboot about 4 times already going back and forth between my internet-less vista and incompatible XP x64 desktops.

3 hours with Zune Support and no help what so ever. I am thinking about leaving Zune, this is horrible. I have wasted my entire day to this crap.

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?
I've tried installing the full package and the the package on the main zune site, but i receive the following error message, any thoughts?

"Installation Failed
Setup Must stop because the required package 'Creating system restore point' failed to install.

the system cannot find the drive specified
Error Code: 0x8007000f

i have rebooted several times, have XP-SP2, i'm now trying to run each of the packages individually to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks
