I fully support this statement and thanks lilsalmon for the bullet list, which I couldn't keep cool enough to write!
I think the Zune device is a beauty, and I was happy with the v1 software despite being "trapped" into using it and not being able to play videos dowloaded from the BBC iPlayer (which are free and in windows format). I've stayed away from iPod because of this, and now you've given me reasons to stay away from Zune.
Podcast catching looks like a good added feature in v2. But that is all.
I feel v2 is (bugs aside) a retrograde step in terms of features - in a BIG way. I don't consider myself an advanced user either. Just competent.
I've invested a lot of time on my music library and I feel MS have thrown it away.
The fact of the matter is that if things don't improve radically, I will ditch my Zune and look again at a manufacturer that is focused on producing a good tool for managing and listening to music, rather than one that wants to make its money by selling music.
In the meantime, there is no way I will be syncing my device with my disrupted and unmanageable library, I'm going to dig out the original software CD, and give it until the Christmas sales. If by then there is no sign of improvement to the software, I'll go out and get an alternative in the sales.
Perhaps MS could point us to somewhere we can download the last version of v1 so we can roll back this upgrade - that would keep me happy for a year...
