I connected my Zune and signed in, linked to my tag, made sure that it said linked to tag and then unplugged my device.

Next I listened to a few songs while playing some 360.

When I connected my device in I saw nothing change, but sometimes it takes several minutes to update so I went to bed.  Today, I took a look and no updates so I played a couple of songs on the PC.  Those updated, but still nothing updated from the Zune.

So, it sounds like it seems to have worked for some of you, but not all of you.

It's expected that your top songs, top artists, etc aren't working right now, but your total plays and recently played should be updating.

If the very same song will upload from the software but not from the device (after ensuring your device is linked to your tag), we may need to look more deeply into what's happening for you.

Definitely not working Jessica: I've played the same songs (Haujobb) on both my software and my device. Only the software works.
If there's any other tests you'd like me to do, I'm more than happy to do them.

Well snap, it doesn't seem to be working now. I listened to music all day at work and when I sync'd tonight nothing seemed to change. I'll wait until tomorrow morning and check on my stats again. I'll update this post then.

This is exactly what is happening.  While checking this (again!), I saw that my profile had the updated play count from software plays, but the software lagged behind about 15 minutes before it updated the play count.  However, neither software nor profile are reflecting plays and recent artists from the device.

Was just about to reply the same thing. Did a test that repeated exactly your concern in your previous post Jessica: I played the Once soundtrack, which I had just finished playing in my car. Within 15 minutes my playcount and recent artists was updated on the site. But when I syncd an hour earlier, nothing was reflected by the songs played on the device in my car.

Yes, Please look deeper into this issue. I would like to know what the problem is and why a whole days worth of Zune device plays vanish before they reach profile. (yes, im linked.did it, and did it again)

I just want to say Thank You. I just opened my software up and there they were, all the songs that I have played on my device appeared at once on my 'recently played' list and my Zune card. I know something clicked since I have not played those particular songs in a couple days but they all suddenly show up at once. Not to mention my play count that jumped another 100 songs.

Thanks again and I hope this is a sign of the good things to come.

Jessica,
I'm mucking about doing different tests (sync'g only through cable, unlinking my Device for 12 hours and then linking and resyncing) just to see if I can come up with a certain pattern that might help you guys.
And I think I may have.
It looks like anything that is played on my device: the individual playcount on my Collection on the software goes up appropriately, but it has no idea when the song was last played. Play it on the software and it has the right date.
In my minds eye this means that the software might not know to add it to recent artists or to playcount because it doesn't know if it's an old played song, or a new one.
Unfortunately this data doesn't hold true for people who have seen their playcount go up without using the software (one of my friends for example).

Hope you can use this in some way.

The device doesn't timestamp plays, so device plays will never go up in the same order in which you played them. But they should show up (and even if not in recently played, they should increment your overall playcount).

The device and service teams are looking into what could be the issue for users who have unlinked/relinked their devices and still aren't seeing plays update. I don't know if there's anything in particular you can do, but I will let you know if there is.

No timestamp? Well that explains a few things..but the play count issue still stands at least for me. Again I played music about 5 or 6 hours at work and again no updates. All that showed up is the one play via the software from this morning. I played music a good 7 or 8 hours yesterday on the Zune and none of those showed up. I even left my computer and zune software running all day today.

To reiterate I unlinked the Zune, tried deleting the Zunestore.sdf, and finally formatted my Zune and re-setup to no avail.
