1. The people at Support aren't engineers by any means.  They are meant to help with things that are in the database. If it's not in the database they can't do anything other than offer a replacement device.

2. Your attitude is ridiculous. How would you like me to call you an incapable moron if you don't know how every piece of equipment that you deal with in your job works down to the last detail?

Umm.. I paid money for this, I expect it to work for at least 2 years, I expect it to PLAY MUSIC. I had faith in this product because people told me it was reliable, and it failed me worse than a ipod. The zune is pathetic, anyone who had ANYTHING to do with designing zune is worthless and pathetic.. and of course all the fanboy pcfags who support it are pathetic. I HATE THE ZUNE WITH A PASSION. *** YOU MICROSOFT, GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY.

Ok, so let me see if I understand this correctly.

You expect every device you ever purchase to work properly 100% of the time?

Well then, in that case you had better not every buy anything, since nothing has a 0% failure rate, not even us old humans.

You also further wish to insult people and act as a troll on these forums?

I called support last night and they are sending me a replacement.  After going through some steps, the woman I spoke with was helpful and believes the problem is the battery.  I tend to agree and we shall see.

re: 80GB freezes (occasionally) on play.
I'm getting the same error. 1 out of every 6 (ish) plays, it freezes up, and I have to hard reset.

Another thing I noticed, was if I'm playing a game, and I navigate to a different song while paused in the game, the Zune has a similar effect. Every once in a while, it just won't play the song, but the game will remain unfrozen. This has happened twice so far, and after navigating to the regular music menu (outside of the game), it then freezes up upon playing 100% of the time.

A frustrating error, to be sure. I resynced all my content, which didn't help, where I then wiped the entire drive and reloaded the firmware. Still nothing. It didn't happen in firmwares 2.0 or 2.5, so I assume it has to be a bug in 3.0.

I can't say for certain, but I'd wager that you're right about it being a bug in 3.0.

Also I've noticed that what happens with the Zune is what we call a soft-lock.

The device can "still be used" in certain ways, but is completely useless for the most part.

A good example of this is on the XBox 360 where a title stops moving, but you can open the guide and get back tot he dashboard.

re: 80GB freezes (occasionally) on play.
Mine has frozen up twice on playing a song. If I try to put it to sleep (holding play) the backlight turns off and can't be turned back on, but if held in light you can see that the lcd is still on displaying the frozen screen. Restarting by holding down + back fixed the problem. The only other problem I have had was after browsing the marketplace, I tried to turn wireless off, and it froze for about 20 seconds. I tried to restart it, being impatient, but that didn't work. After 20 seconds, it started working fine again. I can't see this being anything other than buggy firmware - fortunately, my problems are certainly tolerable - freezing twice in 4 days is okay. I just hope it gets patched soon.

So far after my full device restore things have markedly improved.

I was seeing the issue with songs not playing properly, but it seems to have sorted itself out for the time being.

re: 80GB freezes (occasionally) on play.

Sounds like I hit on a nerve. In a way I'm glad a lot of other people have this problem because I know it will actually be addressed, but I feel sorry for the engineers who will be pulling out their hair trying to eliminate it :)

For me, it has been happening frequently. Intensity of use seems to have no effect, it is completely random and affects older and newer content alike.

re: 80GB freezes (occasionally) on play.
Hi,

I too am having this problem ever since the 3.0 update.  I have two 80gb Black zunes.  After the update, both have frozen up, and sometimes the pad glitches out only going one direction when pushing any direction.  This really irritates me, because I can't reboot sometimes because the pad doesn't understand the up command.

I have noticed that letting it sit for about 15 mins sometimes fixes the issue (sometimes it doesn't).

I hope they come out with a patch soon for this, it's very frustrating having both of our zunes glitch out at the same time, leaving both of them completely useless.

re: 80GB freezes (occasionally) on play.
I'm having the exact same problem today with my Zune 80GB! I figured it was the update too because I've had my Zune for 6 months, use it almost daily and have never had this problem before. At first I thought it was just mine but it started to happen every single time so I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully Microsoft can fix this soon as it is VERY frustrating restarting the device after every single song.

Why can you not accept that zune is bad, and you are a douche (with shitty tastes)? I know its hard being wrong, but you gotta bite the bullet and accept it.

What does Norrath Reaver's tastes have to do with anything?

So what if you don't like Microsoft's Zune player (Do you want some sort of reward?).  They're not expecting one-hundred percent of the world's population to enjoy the thing.  Quit making such a fuss, and return the player to the point of purchase, considering you still have the receipt, and are within the product return policy.
