Do it all now - You may not be able to do it later
What I'm really saying is... with the price your paying for zune, you shouldn't need to buy any good quality head phones just to have decent sound. It is like buying a home theater system without...I don't know... the EQ. Then go back to the store and pay more money for good quality speaker? In my opinon, good quality speakers are not complete without the EQ. I also would like to listen to the player in my car. I RIVER H-10 sounds great in my car because of it's EQ. Why should I have to adjust the EQ in my car in order to enjoy the zune player (after paying that much muney for it). Nobody has the same kind of ears as the other person and I'm definitely sure people also would like to get the most for their buck.

I am a stickler for sound quality so without the equalizer as a feature, the zune player is useless. Right now, I am looking for a new player. If there's not an upgrade to correct this feature, I may have to look elsewhere. For anyone who are, interested in adding a custom equalizer as well as presets to the Zune, please respond. Hopefully, the Zune department would take this into consideration.
You have voiced my sentiments perfectly. I passed my Zune 30 on to my daughter in anticipation of the Zune 80 only to find out that the meager presets were removed. Needless to say I was stunned. I was quite sure the device would gain a graphic (custom) EQ and I certainly never dreamed the team would remove the EQ all together. So now the question stands on two parts. Does the Zune 2 have the hardware capabilities to incorporate and EQ (remember, the firmware update did not remove the EQ from the Zune 30). And if the Zune 2 can have an EQ WHEN WILL IT!!
I am sorry. Maybe the player has a premium audio path and produces a very flat response curve but ya know what? My ears don't hear that way! We need the ability to compensate for our ears shortcomings to make the product viable.

SO true. it is ridiculous to say that a device is useless without an equalizer. it is equally ridiculous to say that the reason you want an equalizer is because you love high quality sound. if you want high quality sound get some better headphones, without an equalizer it sounds like the artist mixed it to sound.

Guy, this may be true for you but not all of us have perfect ears. Over the years I have lost some sensativity to certain frequencies due to the noisy environments I work in (and yes I wear protection when possible). Without the ability to boost these specific frequencies the music just plain sound wrong. As we are talking about a device whose primary purpose is to provide an enjoyable audio experience the lack of the ability to make the audio sound correct essentially renders the device useless. So, no I tend to agree with the premise of this petition.
I have one last comment and this is targeted at the moderators. Please take the few seconds to comment on this subject. Let us know if there will be an EQ added in the near future.
Why is anyone actually signing this? The Zune 30 still has it and it's impossible for the Zune 4/8/80 to get it due to the lack of a hardware component.
Signing this isn't going to do anything. They can't institute a firmware update and just magically fix this (well, technically they could make a software EQ but that could create other issues).
This thread is just a waste of bits. It won't accomplish anything and you don't need an EQ anyway as it's worthless
