re: The Empty Battery
I can't even get my first generation zune to come on.  It seems to be hanging on something.  It came up once with the dead battery symbol.  I know in the past I had to turn off the wireless to get the battery to last.  I wonder with the new update to the wireless has made the battery drain worse.  Hopefully I can get charged up enough to turn on.  At this point it won't even sync.

re: The Empty Battery
I guess I'll jump in on this thread too.  I've never had battery issues with my Zune 30 until now.  I had a 3/4 charge yesterday, picked it up today and got the "!" screen.  When I plugged it in to my laptop it came up, connected, and turned off.  I unplugged/replugged it and it did the same thing.  I had to plug/replug it a few times to my AC charger to get it charging correctly.  I'm sure the product team has to be having the same problem on some of their personal/test units.  There's probably a fix on the way soon so I guess I'll have to deal until then.

re: The Empty Battery
Same here, I used to charge my Zune 30 every 3 days, and used it in the car to and from work. After the update now, it makes it to work, but its dead when I get in the car to drive home...I don't think the player is properly going into standby, nor is the auto-off feature working anymore...I guess I'll be using the down/back trick until they fix this...

re: The Empty Battery

Same thing here .. I've had the Zune 30 since it came out last year and never had any battery issue until the new firmware udpate. Wi-fi is specifically turned off so it's not that. I've been able to have a fully-charged Zune last me multiple weeks with seldom use on a single charge. Now this thing dies overnight without even using it. This has to be a firmware problem and I hope MS gets it fixed quickly.

re: The Empty Battery
I dunno what it is, maybe at night it searches for wireless sync oppertunities, have no idea really. Just have to leave it on charge now. It has something to do with night, because I bring it to school every day, and It lasts around 8 hours, yet when I get out the battery reports fully charged. But if I go to sleep for 8 hours, I wake up and it's dead. Hope they fix this soon, mine's a black Zune 30.

re: The Empty Battery

Yes, I'm believing that this is a firmware issue as well with all these people having the same problem.  I have an 80g and I am getting the same as you all.  I would charge it to full, and not even play anything on it - and it'll be dead by the end of the day.  I hope someone addresses this soon because I am often left now not knowing whether or not the Zune will have power when I get ready for the commute home from work.

I too think that it's not going into "low power standby" mode.

re: The Empty Battery

It has to be the new update causing the problems cause I used to be able to get hours out of my Zune 30gb before the update even with wireless on, now I can hardly get 20 minutes with wireless off. If anyone finds out any information on this problem please give me a notice. I will check in with the Zune Support and see if they are working on anything.

Why are they making updates when the old stuff is working just fine?  I dont have a Zune or an iPod(still deciding on which I should get)  im really skeptical of getting a Zune because of all your battery problems.

Firmware issues
For what its worth, I've a few similar issues like this with the 1.3 firmware. It went away with 1.4. Of course now I'm on the latest firmware. I've only had it happen once. We'll see what happens tonight and if it happens again.
