I only have one complaint, but it has seriously hampered how much I enjoy my Zune. (I'd post what I liked, but my original posting was more than 20,000 characters long)
Zune desperately needs to overhaul its software. It's ridiculous how much of a pain it is to edit my tracks. Case in point: Chef Aid. The track listing for this is as follows:
1. South Park Theme - Primus
2. Nowhere to Run - Ozzy Osbourne/DMX/Ol' Dirty ***/The Crystal Method/Fuzzbubble
3. Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S. I Love You) - Chef
4. Brad Logan - Rancid
5. Come Sail Away - Eric Cartman
6. Kenny's Dead - Master P
7. Simultaneous - Chef
8. Will They Die 4 You? (Remix) – Ma$e/Puff Daddy/Lil' Kim/System of a Down
9. Hot Lava - Perry Farrell and DVDA
10. Bubblegoose (Remix) - Wyclef Jeanwith Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman
11. No Substitute - Chef
etc. (continues on for ten more tracks)
Zune software will automatically create a different album for every different artist. This is crazy. To improve the software, the user should be able to edit everything about a song: the artist, the album, the genre, and even the track number. I used that German program “Mp3tag” to remove tags, but after I filled in the blanks using the Zune software to fill in artist, album, etc, the tracks went into different albums again.
Make an update of the software so that the user can edit the artist, the album, the track number, the genre, and make it so that all tracks listed under a certain album, regardless of whether or not the artists are the same, go under that album. If the user does not enter or deletes the track number, order the album alphabetically. Also, when the user edits tracks, make it so that he can edit groups of tracks all at the same time. In the current Zune software, if I click and hold my mouse down, scroll it over a few albums and then right-click, I cannot edit anything at all.
In short, improve the interface. The best interface I’ve come across as far as storing music was Yahoo! Jukebox. It’s easy to use, and it’s simple to edit your tracks with it.
