re: TELL US HOW YOU USE AUTO/SMART PLAYLISTS...so we do it the way you want in future releases!

MAKE IT EXACTLY LIKE iTUNES!!!  Then you will be on the right track...when is the update coming out?

Call me stupid but i used the auto playlist to put music i like on my pc and singel out what i had not intrest to. Like i had it set so that audio recording i made for reasons other than music (religius stuff, stuff thats just there to be there) or keep my holiday music out of my regimind like when you give holiday  music a high grade and the in th middle of July you have Christmas music pouring through launchcast radio at an alarming rate. thats what i use it for.

can't be bothered to read every page: has MS said when they are going to implement this into the zune software?

My wife's Creative Zen has a feature called "Album of the Day" With one click it picks a random album and I have always wanted something like that on my Zune but have never figured out a way to make the auto playlist do it. If there is a way to do that it would be awesome. Its a small feature but by far one of the coolest things I've seen on an MP3 player. If you were able to get it to work I might be able to convince her to get a Zune. As of right now she won't part with her Album of the Day.

So... back in November... Zach was gonna "pour through the feedback" and get back to us... publicly.  I guess maybe they decided to scrap the whole idea of making Zune better.

1) I want a smart playlist to keep track of my most played.

2) I want to be able to make more than one playlist while actually listening to music on my Zune.  It currently allows 1 quicklist... how about a few more than that.... iPod can do it.

 

We might as well face it, we are never going to get the features they took away back. Hell I'm still surprised no one has filed a class action law suit. They sue over the Xbox live downtime, but the zune team removes features they used to sell the device to begin with and no law suit. Hell I would get a lawyer and sue but I have version 1 running again.

Bring back:
Auto-playlist
5 star rates
flagging
and everything else you took away from this product.

Leave it up to Microsoft....updates that mess up something that was working fine!

Triggerx, don't forget 3) The ability to remove songs from the quick lists.  I once accidentally added a song twice in a row, and there was no way to fix it but to clear the entire list and start over.  What a pain, since it was song #32 in the list.  Sheesh.

I would also like every place where it says "Play Artist" or "Play Album" to have another option:  "Shuffle Artist" and "Shuffle Album".  I hate having to play the album or artist, then go to options and turn on shuffle.  The same song is always the first song, and then I have to remember to turn shuffle back off.  Completely unnecessary.  If I say "Shuffle Artist", it should randomly play songs from that artist until I start to play something else.  If global shuffle isnt' on, it should just play normally from that point.  I shouldn't have to go back and turn it on and off all the time.

I really hope they bring back the smart playlists (as many as I want, mixed with as many 'normal' playlists as I want, as well as the ability to "shuffle playlist"), 5-star ratings, etc, etc.

I sure hope it's soon too.  I don't want to have to wait until the fall to get these features back.

 

I used most played on specific days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurs...etc etc etc), and most played on weekdays/weekends.  Most played at certain hours of the day would be cool too, maybe months, etc etc.

They are making updates. They released an update recently that fixed a major bug with their Podcasting support. Their first priority was (and should be) to fix the bugs in the current software. They're definitely working on adding back in Auto-Playlists. I wish they'd give us more feedback on when to expect it but Microsoft employees have consistantly said they're going to add it.

Another option:  "Shuffle Artist" and "Shuffle Album", mentioned earlier. 

5 Star rating is still a good idea, need that back.   

Still figuring this thing out, but that and a way of randomizing better.  Seemed last version of software kept playing same songs over and over even though used 'Shuffle' feature.  Doesn't seem to be as bad with the last update though. 

Stupid idea:  Maybe some sort of 'Parental Advisory' rating I can flag on certain tunes.  I listen to a lot of old punk rock, don't want to play certain tunes around the kids. 

 

I'm sure others have already said this, but:

- Use some of the ideas from iTunes.  I really liked that I could automatically sort out all of the tracks that had something specific in their title and put it in a playlist (i.e. All of my tracks that had "love" in the title). 
- Being able to make more than one quick list on the device, and actually being to save those lists onto the Zune software for futher editing.  It was a cool feature that I miss from my iPod that I'm sure many wouldn't mind having on here.
- Being able to delete a specific track from the quick list instead of clearing the entire thing.  That's a big pain when you've accidentally put something on the list twice and can't delete it without starting from scratch.
