it is supposed to be general common knowledge not to open up a piece of electronics equipment. If the people who opened it were so eager to have a fix, they should have still waited until they took it to a professional repair location, or better, wait it out to see what Microsoft said. All i did was wait a few hours yesterday to see what statement they had to make online. They said to wait till today, i put the zune away and didnt touch it until today. Did what they said, and i'm listening to it on my zune dock right now as i type this. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I knew not to open it up, i'm a clutz with things, i would have broke it in 5 seconds.

I'm getting seriously annoyed. I let my zune's battery die. I mashed buttons until even the low battery symbol stopped appearing. Completely dead. I plugged my zune into my wall charger, not my sync cable. Well, it turned on...AND FROZE AGAIN!! /rage

Is anyone else's zune still not unfreezing?

I am STILL experiencing difficulty even after following instructions (drained battery, then recharged), part-way through recharge my Zune sprung to life, but stalled.

This is NOT WORKING!!

ya im in the same boat man and i talked to MS and they said that half the zunes are working and the others are still freezing just have to wait till tomorrow

Mine worked for a brief 2 minutes before midnight.  As soon as the clock struck midnight though, it froze again and I haven't been able to get it to work.  Teach me to be impatient.  I guess I will see what happens tomorrow.

Same thing here.
Drained it a dozen times.  Trying plugging into my pc..., laptop... and wall adapter.
Each time it froze.
I even did the unthinkable, broke into the case, and unplugged the battery.
Next step... going to drain and plug into the wife's pc, which has no zune software.

Beyond that?  I'm stumped.
And very angry.

My Zune seems to be gearing back up.  I let the battery drain and when I connected it to the USB port all I got was a picture that looked like a battery.  I was worried that it wasn't going to work but just now it started working, synched with the software and is charging up the battery.  Whew....I really didn't want to have to replace it with another one, unless MS was planning on replacing them, since I can't afford another one right now.

Ok. It is 6:03pm and I have done everything that they say I should do. I have let it fully drain  and then plugged it in to charge again. It goes right back to the Zune screen and freezes still. What do we do now? Please let me know.

Me too, after I plugged it in to USB to charge, ZUNE just sat there doing noting for a few minutes w/battery Icon in the center, but then started up & is charging.  Just hope it keeps going!!!

YAY!! My 30GB zune is working now that I plugged it infor about 20 min and everything  was still there!!
It has actually been froze up since Dec 17 or something and I finally got it to work!!
 I got a new one from Best Buy. will they refund My money if I take it back?

Its because of -EAGLE EYE- that *** is trying take over  the ZUNEs!!!! hahaha
