re: Cannot Install Zune Driver
Any updates?  I've got a $250 paperweight right now, returning it for an iPod really doesn't sound too bad right now, even though the device itself seems amazing.  I am sure that everyone would just like to know what is going on.

I, along with others, can't sync the Zune to the computer, there is a driver issue, meaning no music, videos, nothing.

re: Cannot Install Zune Driver

Sorry if this a repeat in this thread but after having my own issues, here are the steps I used t resolve on Vista Ultimate x64:

1 -  De-installed old Zune V1 and made sure Zune was not plugged into PC

2 - Turned ON Windows Firewall (I use OneCare, but the installer looks for Windows Firewall which I had off.  If you have Norton/Mcafee/etc make sure windows firewall is on)

3 - Search for any "phantom drivers" installed from a previous zune install.   If this is the case,  it will mention "Phantom Device" in the ZuneInstall.log file.   Search the forums for the method to remove these manually, and then try re-install

4 - Once Software is installed THEN plug in the Zune Device.

re: Cannot Install Zune Driver
"Phanton drivers" were mentioned several pages back in this thread, but I don't recall any reports from the people reporting problems that said their issues were resolved by deleting these "phantom drivers". I did an uninstall using Revo Uninstaller and removed anything associated with Zune. It made no difference. Still waiting for Microsoft to imrpove the Zune drivers.

re: Cannot Install Zune Driver
My problem was resolved after I wen to the Zune directly in the device manager and updated the drivers while it was plugged in. I had an older 30g Zune with 1.2 firmare showing there, updated the driver and everything was fixed.

Yes we can and yes we DID!

Where exactly are you guys located, cause I live in Vancouver and if this goes on long enough I could drive up and have you look at my computer. It might be worth it.

Edit: Bellvue or Redmond maybe?

re: Cannot Install Zune Driver

And if you try and use the Update Driver specifically, and point to the drivers in C:\program files\Zune\Drivers,  what happens?

I would also do the phantom device cleanup, since this would remove any drivers that may still be in your system when it's trying to match the deviceID to a driver.

re: Cannot Install Zune Driver
I have tried pointing to the Zune\Drivers folder to load drivers (more than once), but the installation has failed every time. Also tried installing from default Windows location and "online search" and CD search. I will go back through the thread to look for the instructions on removing "phantom drivers". I guess it can't hurt. Did the install log reveal anything interesting?
