L2J that woulda been fine if they had choosen to keep WMP as the
backbone program but they opted to go with something more defining.
Features have to be momentarily sacrafied until they can figure out how
to work them back in correctly. The Zune software is a completely new
and seperate build it's not a specialized version of WMP anymore.
I understand that they went away from WMP to be more defining, it is definitely a good idea. But to release this software to the masses and the timing of the release (Christmas season), to still be missing features was a mistake. I understand they had new hardware to sell and new software would be expected to come along with it. Personally when re-designing/programming anything I make sure that all previous features are included before I even think about releasing a beta version. You can't expect something to be received well, when you are hoping most users will be happy to wait for expected features.
Take for example : Lets say you leased a new Scion tC, and when your lease was up, you liked it so much that you bought a new model year tC. Without thinking about whether or not power steering was standard on the new model (because it was, on the previous year) you purchase it, on your way driving it home, you think something is wrong with the car because steering is allot more labor intensive than it used to be.
Lets say this is a world where you can't fully test something out before you buy it ( like buying any hardware that relies on software ), wouldn't you wonder first: what they were thinking and second: when are they going to fix it?
*This is not an actual situation, all new cars have power steering
standard, nor would you purchase a car without test driving it. It is merely for comparison.
In general I am a Microsoft person, if you know what you are doing and how to fix it and keep it clean, it is great.
I don't want this to sound like a bash on them, take it as constructive criticism of this piece of software specifically.
Microsoft,
How long should we expect to wait for this significant update? I am new to Zune, and from what I hear in this forum it sounds like close to a year.
From the first post of this thread it leads me to believe that from beta
stages you knew something was missing, but just now starting to code/implement it so that it can be beta tested.
