re: Music Collection Issues
I used Mp3tag to fix all of my metadata and cover art. I didn't realize how much some of my music tags were out of wack. After fixing all metadata, I wiped my Zune 30 and removed all files from my collection in the software. I used earlier notes of the albums that were screwed up and dragged them into the software. I edited the artist info in the far left pane (15 albums were messed up) and that corrected them all. I then selected the folders for the remaining albums and put them in the software by click and drag.  I synced my Zune and  everything is now perfect. It's sad that I had to take 3hrs to correct things that should have been right to begin with. After much frustration, I'm happy now.

re: Music Collection Issues

I used the fix you posted above and it fixed most of my collection.  However, there are still a great number of songs that are displayed incorrectly.  I followed your steps to locate the file to check the metadata and the metadata (artist/album title) is correct in the properties of the song file.  However, in the Zune software the album artist and album title are something completely different.  Is there some way to fix/update the Zune software to make it recognize the actual file metadata?

Thanks!

Tom

hey! I don't underdtand how to rename the tags you specified. I found them, but I don't know what you mean by renaming them, cause when I click on them, it doesn't seem to give me a rename option.

hope you can help soon!

re: Music Collection Issues
Yeah, this is some serious bullcrap. I had everything set to where I could find it easily, and then they go and change all this stuff. I love the new look, I like how it all works. I just hate how I can't change the song, album, and artist information. I have all these albums with one song on each that are not supposed to be listed under "Various Artists" and I can't do a thing to them to fix it. If this doesn't get fixed soon I'm moving back to the I-tunes player.

re: Music Collection Issues
How do I get rid of all of my music from my collection? I'd gone through and retagged and adde album art toeverything (none of my music had been tagged before), and somethings still aren't fixed.

Is it worth removing everything from the collection and then readding it? Is this a bad idea? How would I go about doing this?

Fear not, it's fine. Look in WMP, it should all be just fine. It's just displaying it wrong. Hopefully we'll see a patch here shortly to fix that.

No it has actually moved or deleted files!  Fortunatly I have a second HD with a copy of all my music!

I followed your instructions, and to my disappointment, the files went back to the wrong places again after a few hours...  It's just not working for me or anyone else... Let's have the old system back!

re: Music Collection Issues

i've noticed that WMP has something to do with the music collection as well, i just updated some of the data in the media player and it helped fixed some issues.

i also just erased all content from my zune 30 gb, to see if some of the library issues i was having gets fixed now.

re: Music Collection Issues

I completely cleared my libraries on both the zune software and WMP then reloaded them both after i did the whole file name change thing.  I then went into WMP and fixed them there where you can manipulate the id tags.  Whatever changes i made there were reflected in the zune software.  I worked on it all weekend and finally tried that and it worked.
