I am trying to reset but It wont repsond to anything now.

Same here.... mine was charging overnight, it is stuck on the Zune screen with no loading bar.  I do not know how to reset it, but I tried turning it off and that didn't work.

re: Zune 30 freezing

I did what the instructions stated on the support page and first my zune software doesn't recognize it. But now it is frozen on a different screen, It states clearing contents please wait. So i guess it is reformatting itself but been like that for about 30 min.

This is just bogus.

You just have to wait for the battery to run out, that's all. I just opened it up today, and, voila, as said, the Zune works again. My stance on the whole "OMG MICROSOFT SUX CAN'T MAKE A PRODUCT RIGHT" Jeez guys, calm down. It sucks being without music, yes, but an MP3 player isn't the most important thing in the world in the right moment. I think you would worry more if other products had the same bug. Like, you know, anything in the medical world that requires timekeeping and saves lives. THEN we should start worrying. It's a bug, possibly overlooked, but the Zune team is human. They make mistakes. And it's a slight mistake that shouldn't be blown out of proportion. It's not like an EMP device blew out all electronic devices; it's a simple bug. And don't give crap to the Zune team; they've been amazing this year. In fact, their updates and support to the older Zunes have changed my mentality. I used to absolutely hate my Zune 30 (got it off from Woot.com for $100. No, it was a one day sale, don't even think about it) because it was ridden with problems, but Zune team's updates made me a true believer. In summary,CALM DOWN whiners. Please. Happy new year.

re: Zune 30 freezing

My Zune is working now but I continue to be disappointed in the device and Microsoft because of the multiple problems I have had with the Zune, software and Microsoft since I purchase it and the problems don’t look to be ending soon with this problem being a prime example.

re: Zune 30 freezing [Update with resolution]
Hurray is working!!  I let my Zune to ran out of charge and now I charged it and it turn out perfectly.

Mine is a first generation but I won't trade mine for any Ipod.  I absolutely love my Zune.  Despite the fact of this situation that was fixed immediately as promised, I don't see why Zune users should want to trade theirs for any latest Ipod.  I recently went to purchase a 8 GB and after comparing between Ipod new Nano which colors can allure a, I did my research and still went for Zune's 8GB model (Mine is a shiny Red and I love it).  I believe is more for your money.  My old 30GB have survived drops and weather inclement.  Now it has proved that it can survive leap year bugs that maybe were planted by the competitor.  Ipod it's cool , but lets face it, is more about the name that about the features.  When I buy gadget I want the best for my money and that's why I am a proud Zune user.

Happy New Year!

re: Zune 30 freezing [Update with resolution] My 80 froze too!
The statement that this only effects the 30 is not true. I have an 80 and it froze at some point Tuesday PM/Wednesday AM. It would not go past the Zune screen...and nothing worked. The directions they give for 'fixing' the 30 seems to have worked for my 80....so far so good. Thank You!So, if you have an 80...this problem was NOT limited to only the 30's....and hopefully the solution they give continues to work for us too Smile [:)] Heidi

re: Zune 30 freezing [Update with resolution]

I was so sad yesterday, I thought that Microsoft  pulled a Y2K on us to get us to upgrade.  But now, it makes sense that there was a bug in the internal clock in the way that it handles leap years!  I'm so happy, mine is working fine!  Big Smile [:D]

I do have to say that I've had several problems with my Zune, but they have all been handled and fixed fairly quickly.  Any MP3 player is going to have issues now and then, that's to be expected.  They could improve on our wait time when we call in though!!!  And when I called, first the bot tried to help me by suggesting that I do a restart, naturally, that didn't work because it was FROZE!!!  But then, when I finally was asked if that helped and I said NO, they put me on hold to wait for an agent...and low and behold, they can't take my call because of "Severe Weather"...!!!  Have to say, I think that was a run-around!!!  Stick out tongue [:P]

No matter what though, I will never go to an iPod!  Zune forever!!!  Woot woot!!!  Big Smile [:D]

I LOVE my RED 30! ^_^
