I understand your frustration. We are still working on this problem.
I appreciate you patience and I'll post more information as soon as possible.
Zune Product Team .: This posting is provided "as-is" with no warranties, and confers no rights :.
I have tested and installed multiple Zunes on different PCs, Laptops, and other devices. And have not run into this problem as of yet. And there can be a number of reasons why the device does not install properly.
DEVICE PROBLEMS:To troubleshoot you will have to do a hard reset and erasing everything from the Zune player. On the PC you wish to install hopefully you dont have conflicts with other WPD "Windows Portable Device" architectures such as PDAs, cameras, some bluetooth devices, and even cellular syncing software like Motorola Phone Tools (for example). Motorola USB controllers work fine, already tested.
FIRMWARE \ SOFTWARE:Here is a list of most of what is installed for Zune, Zune Bus Enumeration (Wireless Syncing), and Windows Portable Device controls and their locations: Check to see which files are in the right place and which are missing.
C:\Program Files\Zune\Drivers\Zune
C:\Program Files\Zune\Drivers\ZuneBusEnum
%systemroot%\System32\drivers\UMDF
%systemroot%\System32\
%systemroot%\Inf\
EDITING THE REGISTRY AT YOUR OWN RISK:For each Zune device a new device set is installed in the registry under Local Machine - HKLM\System\Enum\CurrentControlSet\USB\Vid_045e&Pid_0710Make sure in these keys exist in the registry, under that key will be additional folders for each device.
Delete the sub folders, download the Zune 2 software from the site.
Restart and re-install.

Can u send all these to me so i can try just inserting these onto my computer
shoop da woops advice worked for me... thank god my zune finally works
Zumbus or Zune Bus Enumerator are only used on XP.
Copying these files is very very unlikely to fix the problem. There are many registry entries that go with them when installed successfully.
We are trying to determine why neither WMP 11 nor Zune are able to install these files in some cases.
I'm having a huge problem with my Zune not having the device driver software and not being recognized by the Zune Program and not being able to open my Zune Player up! i have looked at some of your tips to help and none of them seem to be working! I would really like my Zune to go back to working right and my program to start reading it!
Help Please!!!
Shoop Dah Whoop, specifically what problem/symptoms did you have that adding the LOCAL SERVICE to the Administrators group fix? Was this XP or Vista?
