I'm an IT Tech (Computer builder and repair tech). Is there anyone w/ a 30 GB MS Zune Brick located anywhere near N.W. Arizona (Kingman, AZ), that wishes to allow me to try to fix their MS 30 GB Zune brick (without opening it up at all...as I wouldn't want to affect the warranty), for free? (I wish to write an easy to follow step-by-step process to post in the forum so others can fix theirs themselves after I succeed or offer the service for fairly low cost to many). I'm more than tenacious when it comes to solving problems...I flat refuse to give up.
I'll watch the forum for an answer then we can go off forum to arrange how you get it to me. You would need to get it to me in person or send it UPS or mail or such. I originally won an 8GB in the MS/AMD Vanishingpoint game at the release of Vista and gave that one to my middle Son for a grad. gift a year and a half ago (But since it isn't a 30GB unit it didn't suffer the clock problem).
Sometimes an MS fix doesn't work because the average user isn't a technical person and the technician doesn't give a complete answer (like the problem will resolve itself, just wait until Jan 1, 2009, let it run down, charge it back up and then synch it again).......MS, that isn't a complete answer to all the steps it takes to turn your sold MS bricks back into real Zunes again according to what I have read here.
I would prefer to work on one that belongs to someone that has all their music backed up elsewhere as I do not wish to be responsible (nor will I be responsible for), for the data loss or recovery (in every instance of repair, troubleshooting the loss of data, in this case music, is a definite risk).
Anyone willing to take a shot for the good of the community?
