Dunno if it will work for you, but you might as well try.

Glad to see you finally got yours fixed  Smile [:)]

Hmmm. That blows, bro.
Don't lose hope though.
I almost did until the blasted thing worked.
I almost cried in joy!

I'm assuming yours is still an expensive paper-weight?
I feel bad for you :(
Just keep trying to do a complete reformat (Back/Center/left buttons)
it worked for me, maybe the Zune gods will smile in your favor!

re: Zune 30 freezing issue - [Update and Resolution]
I guess maybe I am one of the people that doesn't understand this.  At first, I thought it was my Zune, and it was only mine.  So I took it to Best Buy and got a new one (and had to pay an additional amount of money for ANOTHER warrenty).  After that, I got the same thing, and found out about this error that is affecting all Zune's.  I have to say that I am more than a little disgusted with the response to this by Microsoft as a company.  I realize that Zune is not their main money maker, such as the iPod is for Apple.  However, when you have loyal customers that make a point of supporting your new products (such as I have been with the XBox and the Zune, as well as Vista), I feel extremely disappointed that they claim that things are fixed and everything is ok, when obviously so many people are still having problems.  At least acknowledge that there are still problems, and tell us you are working on the problem.  Don't leave us wondering.  Knowing you are working on a problem will garner you much more respect as opposed to ignoring it, or not acknowledging it.  I hate to go to Apple with all the accessories and music I purchased through Zune, but unfortunately, with this poor response by the company, I believe I will.  Unfortunately, I also just paid for a month pass, and now it is being wasted.

Gratz! I'm so happy for everyone who has got their Zune back, and I feel bad for all the people who didn't.

How many people are still fighting with their Zunes?

So keep dreaming, you're never gonna taste me!

I had the same problem everyone else had and was just as frustated but still had the presence of mind and apparently more importantly, the time, to open a browser and visit Zune.net.

I think the thousands of people affected by this shouldn't be floundering around having to figure it out somehow.  Microsoft should have sent an email to everyone notifying them that there was an issue (they had to know about this very shortly after it hit -- before we all even woke up and checked our email yesterday) and where to go for updates on it.  Then people wouldn't be stressing out, scouring sites for info, cracking open their Zunes, etc.  They would have headed off this thing which would be the proper thing to do.  They still haven't sent any emails -- oh, except for their standard newsletter-type thing, with no mention of the issue.  I think that is negligent.  I'm not a litigious person, but if there ends up being a class action suit or something, I think not notifying their customers of the problem will be an integral part of it.  At the very least, it won't help their reputation.

Seems like there are still many people with Zunes that aren't working (I'm one of the lucky ones), but Microsoft still has the same thing on their Support page saying the problem is fixed for everybody.  Hmmm.  It just seems to me like their trying to sweep this under the rug as much as possible.

I do love my Zune, though I think Microsoft's handling of this has been pretty irresponsible.

I agree.

Last year, when the new Zune software came out and it fouled up everyone's music libraries, it was obvious that there was a software problem, and so like everyone else I went to Zune support to figure out what to do.  Took way more effort than it should have, but finally I got things working again.  Can't say that the modest changes in the software were worth even a fraction of that effort though.  Anyway, when your device freezes out of the blue, without you having so much as synced it, who would guess that it was a software issue?  From one minute to the next it just dies.  You know all the support pages will just tell you to reset it, etc (after making sure it's unlocked, etc...duh).  And calling them will just result in having to get it serviced.  We've all been there many times with many different electronic devices.  Warranty's over, so if it dies, you're pretty much on your own to try to fix it or buy a new one.  Besides, it's New Year's Eve, and Zune or no Zune, there's a party going on.  Yeah, I suppose I could have said, "Maybe tomorrow it will just start working again."  But then I would have to start believing in flying reindeer too.  So faced with a dead Zune with no warranty, and a party that needs music, you just take your chances when it seems you have nothing more to lose.  The point is, Microsoft's stupid programming led to this fiasco, and they should do something more than this to make things right with their customers, especially if they ever hope to make a dent in the iPod's domination of the media player market.

I honestly was under the impression that I, somehow, did something to my Zune resulting in it bricking. I soon found out, however, that it wasn't my fault at all. My Dad's was doing the same thing, a long with pretty much everyones around the world!

So keep dreaming, you're never gonna taste me!

My sons 30 gb is still not working!!! My 120gb and the husbands 80gb are working perfectly. My son gave up on it two days ago. If this thing is not working within two days I will have to buy a new one which I do not want to do.

I've got my fingers crossed for you, too.
A long with everyone still having troubles with their Zunes.
I know just how you feel, and when nothing seems to work you lose all hope.
Fortunately, for me atleast, it worked when I:

1) Got into it,
2) Disconnected the Battery and HDD cables.
3) Let it sit for a good 30 minutes while I ran an instance.
4) Re-connected the battery and HDD and quickly did the complete format.

From there I just sat there staring at the screen in hope that it would work.
And to my amazement, it actually did.
I jumped up into the air screaming and yelling,
I even hugged my brother,
I NEVER do that.
Shows you how, either creepy or, happy I am about my Zune...
Err, rather overly obsessed,
it's like my baby! :O

So keep dreaming, you're never gonna taste me!
