I had the same problem everyone else had and was just as frustated but still had the presence of mind and apparently more importantly, the time, to open a browser and visit Zune.net.

I think the thousands of people affected by this shouldn't be floundering around having to figure it out somehow.  Microsoft should have sent an email to everyone notifying them that there was an issue (they had to know about this very shortly after it hit -- before we all even woke up and checked our email yesterday) and where to go for updates on it.  Then people wouldn't be stressing out, scouring sites for info, cracking open their Zunes, etc.  They would have headed off this thing which would be the proper thing to do.  They still haven't sent any emails -- oh, except for their standard newsletter-type thing, with no mention of the issue.  I think that is negligent.  I'm not a litigious person, but if there ends up being a class action suit or something, I think not notifying their customers of the problem will be an integral part of it.  At the very least, it won't help their reputation.

Seems like there are still many people with Zunes that aren't working (I'm one of the lucky ones), but Microsoft still has the same thing on their Support page saying the problem is fixed for everybody.  Hmmm.  It just seems to me like their trying to sweep this under the rug as much as possible.

I do love my Zune, though I think Microsoft's handling of this has been pretty irresponsible.

man I was like this till I found another way to make it run...it's just microsoft don't want ppl to start oppning thier zunes to make it run immediatly,,,I wasn't worried about warrenty coz i already don't have any warrenties...and on other way it was holl-days,,,,so they still deserve a break....

Off topic a bit, but I've seen a couple posts about lack of videos to put on the Zune.  I set up movies to record on Tivo, transfer them to my computer (via the Tivo network adaptor), and Tivo converts them to MP4 automatically (Tivo To Go software).  When I open up my Zune software, they're there waiting to be put on my Zune.

IMToo software (DVD to Zune, and Video to Zune) works great too.

I haven't met a movie, DVD, TV show, etc., that I haven't been able to put on my Zune without too much trouble.

I use my Zune for videos more than anything.  I've downloaded TV shows from the MarketPlace which worked well, too, but everything else I put on there is free via TV, etc.

Any of you that haven't checked out the Kicker ZK500 (docking station/speakers) should.  Got it for Christmas.  It's amazing.

re: Zune 30 freezing issue
I'm still frozen too.  I've tried every suggestion on every forum about this topic.  I've done a hard reset, let the battery die and then recharge.  Everything continues to freeze on the dreaded Zune screen.  I'm at a loss.  How long am I supposed to wait for this to work again?!  And how is it that some 30gb Zunes are working again and some aren't?  That seems totally absurd to me if we all had the same "bug".Angry [:@]

re: Zune 30 freezing issue
I have two Zune 30 gb. One works and the other has the lock icon at the bottom and will not respond to anything. The only way to get it to come on is to connect it to a computer. I am gonna let it run down and try it again in 12 hours. Microsoft needs to hurry up and get this resolved!!!

re: Zune 30 freezing issue
Both of mine, still bricked... 1 I had reset the battery on, the other haven't touched... both out of warranty and both bricked.   I'm severely ticked off by how Microsoft's Zune's Section is handling this problem.   This is obviously a design flaw and their statement was made just to hold us over.   Give me my 120 G2 Zune now.....

re: Zune 30 freezing issue
Mine STILL seems to be bricked, it's almost like all my attempts at fixing it didn't even remotely do anything..
I have drained the battery three times, and attempted to charge it three times.
The charges weren't for long because they just went and got stuck on the screen again,
should I charge it for longer?
Or should I just say screw it and attempt to get a new Zune from Microsoft 'cause I still have warranty, I think.

So keep dreaming, you're never gonna taste me!
