Hi guys.
A few points on the sync functionality as it pertains to the library:
- If a folder is monitored, then if a file in that folder is deleted or moved to a non-monitored folder, it will be removed from the library. If it's removed from the library and was synced with a device that has a primary sync relationship it will be removed from the device as well.
One thing you might be able to do to avoid this is to add the content to the library but not monitor the folder it's in. In other words, have c:\foo be some folder containing your videos, and don't add it to the monitored list. Drag the videos directly from Explorer onto your library, which will add the files, but will not change the monitoring status of the folder. Now you should be able to sync the video, but if you delete the original files, it's my belief that Zune will ignore that fact and leave the no-longer-existing video item around in your video library, thus allowing it to remain on the device.
Give that a shot and let me know whether that works for you.
