Sync Error Code C1010007

On Monday morning I erased the content of my Zune80 so that I could force the software to re-transfer my collection. I had beeen having problems with some songs not playing properly on the Zune and I wanted to see if that helped. At the time I had version 3.0 of the software running on Windows 7 x64 and firmware version 3.1 on my Zune. When I tried to resync my collection (~6000 items) I would get an error message about 100-200 items in telling me that my Zune was disconnected. My Zune meanwhile was still displaying the syncing graphic. I would then have to hard-reboot my Zune (Back+Up) before I could sync it again.

 

Now that the new software is out I upgraded, and re-formatted my Zune. I am still having the same problem. I can sync somewhere between 100-200 items before my Zune refuses to complete the sync.

 

Has anyone seen a similar problem before? I am currently listening to some of the items I was able to transfer and they play just fine.

Definitely sounds like a device issue, it could be that the hard drive is starting to fail on your Zune80. :( This error happens when the software tries to to send data to the device, but the device does not accept it, for whatever reason. 

My only suggestion is to disconnect/reconnect the device, and/or reboot, but it sounds like you are doing that already.

Is it not odd that the HDD would fail about 15 months after I first purchased the device?

I havent tried syncing anything on another computer, but after telling the software to forget my player and restarting my computer I was able to sync over half of my collection before I started getting the error message again. I will see if I can get the rest of it back on that same way.

 

I really hope it is not a player issue. This would be the third player to die on me in less then 2 years if that was the case.

I am stuck in the same situation. I have reloadedd software, reformated host, everything. I am beginning to think non-microsoft. Whats the deal?

Also getting that error code with my Zune 30. No problems until the new software came out. Tried restoring the Zune player and updating its software, but I still cannot sync it with my PC.

its not the hdd drive starting to fail. and if it was, it would be a pritty wierd coincidence that every hdd drive started to fail on the day that it was connected to zune software 4.0. all of my freinds have the same issue.the only device that workes with the new software is the new zune HD. its a problem that the zune team has to fix soon. and its practicly impossible that my hdd drive is starting to fail now, because i just bought a new zune 120 one week ago to replace my older zune 120. and i wish the zune teem would just admit there was a problem with the software. dont get me wrong the software kicks ass, and zune is an amazing product but listening to all these zune teem people on the forums saying simple thing like were idiots and didnt try that. like " did you restart your computer?" "why dont try restarting your zune?" "it seems your zune is broken,too bad, just send it in and well replace it.". no the zune devices are not the problem. all that needs to me done is to make the new softwatre properly compatible with the previous generations of zune  that run on the hdd hard drive. a small patch would suffice. im not insulting anyone. and im sure that the zune teem is doing all that they can and there trying to help. i thank them. but thats not the issue. i have done every imaginable thing to get my zune to work. i even tried to downgrade to zune 3.0 but i cant since i have vista 64 bit. so i need to install zune 3.1 but that takes me just to the 4.0 software. please zune teem try to help us : your loyal customers, or at liest make it avalabe to download the older versions of the software so we can at leist use our devices until zune 4.0 is compatible.

I wanted to report that the Zune media reset tool worked for me. I was able to re-sync my collection to my zune. Thank you to the posts suggesting it.

I now am coming across a new error. When I deleted my library I had to re-download my podcasts, but I am getting download errors on every item I try to dl in the zune software. Error code C00D1197 keeps coming up. I can download the podcasts using Firefox, so I know that its a Zune software issue. Is this related to the media reset?

Don't quote me on this one, but I suspect the issue is that the new firmware/software update is messing with the file transfers.  This is only happening on platter HDD (Zune 30/80/120) and not on flash HDD (4/8/16/HD).  Since the different HDD are accessed and written to differently, and at varying transfer speeds, my guess would be that the update does not support the platter transfer rates, causing an out-of-sync (computer is pushing to 8% while the zune is stil back at 4% and has dropped too many packets to keep up). 

While I find it largely inexcusable (especially considering the unhelpful tech support that flat-out told me: "I don't know, I just read from the computer screen"), it is something that does not seem to be hardware related.  My suggestion, however, is that, if you within the warranty period, send in your Zune, even if it is operating fine (except for this)... Microsoft's dime, and I figure screw 'em.

It gets worse, if you are of warranty, it will cost you $159 to get it serviced.  I went ahead because I need daily music/podcasts in my life to go ahead and replace my zune for the second time. I used the supply me a label option on 09/18.  Guess what, they charged my credit card (even though they service ticket says they wont until new unit is shipped) and as of today, I still don't have a label. they still havent processed a frigging label !   It sounds like all support resources are focused on Zune HD and long term users are screwed. I am serious thinking of leaving the microsoft family.  This includes vista/7.0, xbox, and zune.  I dont get the feeling they care.  oh yea, I'll sell my stock too.  This is very bad.
