New Zune

Without an unannouced price point for the ZuneHd speculation has grown that the device will command a $400 to $500 price tag.  This price tag fits what the device is apparently capable of OLED screen, HD output, WiFi web browsing etc etc.  The lack of an annoucement for a new Zune with less (standard equipment no OLED or HD output) seems curious.  Is the ZuneHD the only new model coming?  If the ZuneHD is not the only new model coming is there going to be an annoucement for newer models?  It would be rather disapointing to only have one new Zune Device and no new models in the current price range of $140 to $250.  There are users (such as myself) who have been holding off on buying a new Zune replace old ones, outdated (or at least what we consider outdated), and broken models (my Zune 30 is broken and I'm looking to replace it).  It would be a shame to have waited since Oct '08 to replace it only to find out that nothing is coming to replace or update the current models which are 2 years old.  Aside from the ZuneHD there hasn't been much change in the Zune hardware as a whole aside from bigger flash drives and bigger hdds (4 and 8 to start then a 16GB flash was added, 80 and then a 120GB hdd was added and the 80 was dropped).

At any rate just curious.

$400 - $500 Where did you hear this? If it's going to that much no one will buy cause the Ipod touch is $200 and you can get online on there normal internet. So if it wants to compete with the Ipods it needs to lower the price.

It is SPECULATION the iPod Touch also does not do HD output or HD radio etc etc.  The iPod Touch has a touch screen but it isn't as far as I know an OLED screen.  The ZuneHD outspecs the iPod Touch handily.

I don't think we'll see the 8GB,16GB and 32GB devices fall within the same $100 price range.

Yeah I think it's unlikely if they all fall under the current ZuneHD model with varying sizes. Shame really and we don't even know what sizes if anymore are even going to be offered.

We will know soon enough. Fall's not really all that far away. I know a lot of people are hoping for more than 32GB though.

Soon enough is too far away imo. I would rather know now then later. I would think by now there is the ability to do a 64GB flash model that is cost effective, there has been a 32GB flash model by creative for about a year now. Sure 8 and 16GB models would be nice but in lew of not knowing I would not want to make the mistake of not buying a 120GB (although it is entirely more then I need) because in the end I do not need all the features nor would I use all the features of the ZuneHD.

The only new thing I could really care about is the touch screen. I have a Zune Halo (30gb) that I converted to a 120GB, and I use more than half the space. I only wish I could convert mine to a touch screen haha.

I would say 300-400 would be the price of this if it is 16GB. Definitely looks awesome though

I believe the one they debuted was a 32GB flash (currently that is Creative's top flash model). While the ZuneHD is pretty I'm more intrested in "lesser" models. I'm not big on WiFi surfing or any of that stuff. I'm hoping they announce redesigned "older" models (120GB, 80GB, etc etc).

like say, the older models with touchscreens??? lol

I think Microsoft or Zune should offer a service where you can send in your Zune, and have it refitted with options for a touchscreen, or w/e. That would be awesome.

Hi!  I have some other problems with my zune, but mostly I am curious how you could convert to 120 Gig.   Did you do it yourself, or send it in and have MS do it?
