30GB will not charge or sync with cable

I was able to sync my 30GB 1x after it died on the 31st. It works fine but it no longer will recognize any cable, I tried 2 different ones and used PC laptop and wall plug to try and charge. BTW it was working perfectly before the all the 12/31 crap. I can sync wirelessly but the battery is not going to last forever. Any suggestions?
