I have two in my house. One is frozen. The one that belongs to my wife hasn't been used in a long time so it has an older firmware on it. It works fine. Must be something with the newest firmware. So all the posts telling you to pull it apart and reset it won't work once it updates to the new firmware when you hook it up to your computer.

Honestly. Our second Zune is working fine. Both 30G models. Both the same age. Even the same color. Only difference is that hers has been sitting on a shelf unused for a bit.

My wife and I both have 30Gs and both of them bricked up in the last few hours.  We upgraded to version 3.1 a couple days ago.

Thanks for the info. The more that we can collect about this problem the easier it will be for MS to correct the problem.

I have older firmware on my Zune - it still bricked this morning.  I do connect it to my computer occasionally, in which case it always seems to need to update my Zune's clock to be able to sync.

Mine froze as well. (black 30gig) I had it charging on the speaker dock, and when I went to turn it on for my morning routine, nothing but the boot screen.

My 30G locked up on the boot screen... Synced it and fully charged yesterday.

Strangely enough, I also have a Toshiba Gigabeat (windows mobile, very similar to zune) that has also locked up in the menu.

Two of my kids also have Zunes, but they aren't awake yet.  I'm going to have them not power up until we hear more.

It's -8 here in Minnesota, but the Zunes seem more frozen

Well, my gigabeat is looking ok... it has a tiny battery switch.  That seemed to fix it... probably just a coincidence.

The one that is working fine is:

Version 2.3 (1145)
Bootloader 435

The dead one is up to date (I can't get the exact numbers because it is... well.. dead)
