I have been using this version of the Zune software for awhile, but today when I try to download stuff I get the above error. If you click on it, it states "Can't verify your media usage rights. A local firewall may be blocking access to the Zune service". Nothing has changed, and as a matter of fact I was in the middle of downloading something when it started happening. I was downloading one thing, then when I went to download another it pops that up. I have tried restarting my pc and the softward, still does the same thing.

the same thing is happening to me and it is pissing me off..I don't know how to adjust a local firewall..I don't even know what the hell that means..somebody help us!!!!

I checked my firewalls and everything looks fine, plus it just happened without anything changing so anyone got a clue what is going on with this?

Current problem: Error C00D12F6
All of a sudden, I'm getting this error code when trying to DL heroes S01E10.  My firewall is down, nothing has changed on my network. I tried the reset the DRM but I can't find the folder.  I "show all files" browsed the reg but the path there is in Binary code and did a search and found no folders matching "DRM". 

On going problems
I wish I could go 1 day w/out a problem!
For over a year now the software never worked right.  Often when trying to upload to our zunes (mine and my fathers, both 80gigs) it gets stuck somewhere between 5% and half way and when / if we do get something uploaded, it's often not complete or corrupted. (just normal mp3's). Also, alot of the time when the software asks to update and sign in.. it's either very slow or temporarly down.  The software will never detect the zunes. we always have to unplug and plug back in several times and just hope and pray... I would suspect at first it was a computer problem  IF.. we didn't have 7 very expensive computers, 3 of which are build specificly for gaming (Alienware) and these same problems occure on those computers too.

I love the design of zune.. and the features it offers.. to bad most of it only works 50% of the time.  Id almost be willing to buy 3rd party software to do the job it's suppose to but that's probably a violation.. I'm about to ebay these two zunes and go back to ipod

Same with me, I read somewhere that it might be the wireless security so I turned it off, but it still doesnt work. I also reset my DRM stuff still didn't work either. I have a feeling that it is on Microsofts end.

Same problem here.  I began experiencing this problem with not being able to download songs (with a Zune Pass).  I did the DRM system reset per Rajesh (Zune Product Team) - see this post: http://forums.zune.net/0/1/394603/ShowPost.aspx#394603.

Now, not only can't I download songs, but all the content I've already downloaded won't work (gives me the same error).  The cure is worse than the disease???  Geez, what a Monday!

Here's the error message (which, when you DO click "Web Help", returns this message:  "Unfortunately, there is no specific Web Help message for this error yet."  That's real helpful.):  "Can't verify your media usage rights. A local firewall might be blocking access to the Zune service. Check your firewall settings and restart the Zune software. If the problem persists, click Web Help. Error Code: C00D12F6"

P.S:  When I right-click on a song in the Zune software and select "Properties", DRM shows "Yes - invalid license (has no usage rights)".  I think NOT!

Same boat, can't listen to my already downloaded things too.
