PETITION FOR ZUNE EQUALIZER

I heard that the new zune upgrade remove the equalizer.  If this is true, WHY???  Every player I known have at least a preset equalizer if not a custom.  I am a stickler for sound quality so without the equalizer as a feature, the zune player is useless.   Right now, I am looking for a new player.  If there's not an upgrade to correct this feature, I may have to look elsewhere.  For anyone who are,interested in adding a custom equalizer as well as presets to the Zune, please respond.  Hopefully, the Zune department would take this into consideration.

I think there is a big gap between not having an equalizer and a device being useless...

That said, my Zune 30 with the new firmware still has an EQ - no custom settings but all the same presets.

Just go to Settings -> Music and it is right there... it is also in the documentation/users guide.

Are you talking about the 2.2 firmware update or a future release?  I updated to 2.2 and still have all my equalizer presets.

got a Zune Flash 8gb (black) and would like atleast a few presets to mess with... also would be nice to be able to correct meta data on the device and then have it resync that info back to the main zune software's collection too.

also, having ability to see just the songs from an artists w/o it being grouped into albums would be a very nice bonus too!

Burn My Tomorrows While Standing In Today.

I heard so far from zune users who has a 30 gig that they still have the EQ after firmware upgrade.  However, the ones who has an 80 gig does not have the EQ.  To me, it sucks.  I'm wondering how often do you get updates from zune for adding features, etc.  Btw, I have a 20gig IRIVER H-10.  It is almost simular to the zune compairing to the features but I love the H-10 custom EQ.  The H-10 is near it's death so that's why I'm looking for another player.  The zune 80 gig looks hot but is it upgradable so it can have the EQ?

I'll sign that petition. I just got the 8gb Zune and I really like it, but I don't like not being in control of the sound settings. I've read on other forums that a good pair of ear buds would help, but why not be able to customize the sound the way you want it? Personally, I think the music sounds ok, but a little high on the Mid Range. Does Microsoft even read these posts? Does anyone know who we can contact to see if adding an EQ and other features are part of their future plans? Any good blogs?

From what I've been told... 2ND GENERATION ZUNES DO NOT SUPPORT AN EQ.

The EQ is handled by a separate chip in the device itself, so this basically means it would be impossible to add an EQ to the Zune 4, 8, or 80.  In an interview I listened to, it was apparently to conserve battery life, I'm not sure if I believe this, as you could just turn the equalizer off, but oh well.

In other words, if this is true, which it seems to be... 30gig Zunes only have the EQ after the firmware update because they are physically capable of it, so this petition is kind of worthless.

I have a Zune 30 and after the 2.2 update it is still there. but I have never used the EQ so it would not be a loss to me if it was gone.

SO true. it is ridiculous to say that a device is useless without an equalizer. it is equally ridiculous to say that the reason you want an equalizer is because you love high quality sound. if you want high quality sound get some better headphones, without an equalizer it sounds like the artist mixed it to sound.
